My heart.

The first installment of Mick’s Ladies: Marianne Faithful. Just as summer ends, and you realize that your lover never arrived, you may be feeling a little melancholy….. so I say, meditate of the wistful young lovers of your favorite ladies man, Mister Jagger….. perhaps simply embrace their wardrobes- I must admit, however, that Mick’s style trumps all…. velvet bell bottoms, alligator boots, and the longest scarf ever knitted. It’s hard for any woman to compete with that swagger- I have always adored Mick’s mysterious ability to be intensely masculine while looking very much like a woman- more woman than woman- plus sideburns… It takes a special lady- a beautiful, sad eyed, otherworldly lady- with a raw voice and and a taste for tragedy…. ps. please revisit Marianne’s recording of Sister Morphine as soon as possible.

The favorite store of Mick and David (and me), Biba, was a cultural hot spot in 1970’s London. Launched in 1965, Biba sold everything from teddy bears and perfume to Biba brand baked beans. Glam style championed above all function. Due to an uncompromising aesthetic and a general unwillingness to actually serve customers (the staff was famously rude and inattentive) the shop went out of business in 1975. The clothing line lives on, however, and this season marks an exciting collaboration between Topshop and Biba creator, Barbara Hulanicki. I love everything about this leopard teddy bear bed- with round mirror…. a place for dreaming…..

wait. gold rain boots? holy shit.

Kate rocking the Biba locks….

Biba Topshop collaboration- can a Topshop please open in Los Angeles?
